Another Day, Another Strickland Administration Resignation

WMD notes the near comic level of problems the Strickland administration seems to approaching. Here is the Dispatch report on the latest scandal induced resignation:

The lobbyist for the Ohio Department of Public Safety resigned yesterday after being charged with becoming intoxicated and scuffling with police officers at the Memorial Tournament.

John W. Lang Jr., 33, was arrested Thursday at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin and charged with persistent disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Lang’s lobbying efforts on behalf of the State Highway Patrol, Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the department’s liquor-law enforcement unit included a bill to toughen drunken-driving laws.

And as Matt noted, this paragraph has to bring a chuckle:

Public Safety spokesman Thomas Hunter said Lang, who spent the night in jail, resigned yesterday morning from his $64,688-a-year job. Officials were researching records to determine whether a background check was conducted prior to Lang’s hiring.

Seems a little sad that Public Safety would fail to do a background check.  This story is just full of irony.

What the Strickland administration doesn’t seem full of is competence.
